Does Your Business Need a Mobile App or a Website?

Two different jobs

People often ask for an app when they need a website, and a website when they need an app. That is not their fault. The two look similar from the outside. But they are good at different jobs, and picking the wrong one is expensive.

A website is right when

  • People need to find you. Websites show up in search. Apps do not.
  • Most visitors come once or occasionally: to learn about you, book something, or get in touch.
  • You want one thing that works on every phone and computer with nothing to install.

For most businesses, the public-facing answer is a website, often with booking, forms, and an admin behind it.

A mobile app is right when

  • The same people come back daily or weekly, and the experience is built around them being logged in.
  • You need what the phone itself offers: the camera, location, offline use, or notifications that reach people reliably.
  • The product is the app. If the whole idea is something people carry in their pocket and use as part of their routine, it belongs on their home screen.

What an app really costs

An app is not just a website in a different shape. It means the Apple and Google review processes, updates that users have to receive, and usually building for two platforms. None of that is a reason not to build one. It is a reason to build one only when the idea actually needs it.

Often the answer is both, in stages

A common path: a website first, because it is faster to launch and findable in search, with the app coming once the product and its daily-use case are proven. And behind either one, the part people forget: an admin system, because someone has to manage what users see and do.

We build both. One of our projects went from an idea to an iPhone and Android app with a separate admin system behind it. Another needed exactly the opposite: a public website and an admin, with no app at all. The idea decides, not the trend.

Tell us what is not working

You do not need a list of technical requirements. Tell us what is happening now, how you handle it today, and what keeps getting missed. We will tell you what we would look at first. And if the simplest answer is to keep what you already have, we will say so.
